BMCC Select Chorus

The BMCC Select Chorus was founded by Dr. Yau in the spring of 2005. Choir members are outstanding music students from voice and chorus classes. The Select Chorus has been functioning as a voluntary group; members participate in all scheduled activities without gaining any school credit. They love the art of choral singing and would like to share what they learn with those who have a passion for music. Amongst all choral ensembles, SC has been the most popular with excellent remarks. Last May, SC participated at the CUNY Choral Festival at York College, and won the first prize of the Classical portion. Audition is required. BMCC Select Chorus rehearses on Tuesdays (5:00-7:00 p.m., September thru May) at S190, BMCC Chambers Street Campus.

BMCC Downtown Chorus

The BMCC Downtown Chorus is a new choral organization since the fall of 2006. Under the direction of Dr. Yau, the Downtown Chorus is dedicated to fostering and sharing the art and joy of choral music and to enriching and educating our City's downtown community through concert performances of music from diverse historical periods and cultures. Members include students, faculty, and staff from the BMCC, as well as residents from the downtown communities. Audition is required. BMCC Downtown Chorus rehearses on Tuesdays (7:15-9:30 p.m., September thru May) at S190, BMCC Chambers Street Campus.

BMCC College Chorus

BMCC College Chorus functions as an ensemble class. Students are involved in the performance of standard and contemporary choral literature for mixed voices. In addition to choral training, the course includes performances at concerts and college ceremonies. No audition is required. BMCC Select Chorus rehearses on Tuesdays (12:00-1:40 p.m., September thru May) at S185, BMCC Chambers Street Campus.
